“Over the Rainbow,” the title song of the film The Wizard of Oz, describes an imaginary realm where one can fly, fulfill dreams, illuminate the night, and ease pain. Within the biographical contexts at the heart of Yael Serlin’s two-channel video installation, the song functions as an echo of longing and a plea for encounter in a post-war reality. (Perhaps another kind of meeting between two worlds may yet be possible.)
